I had a muscle spasm and needed a new prescription transferred from California. The pharmacist on duty, Rochelle, couldn't transfer it at opening time and told me to call back in 45 minutes when a technician could do it. I called back, and the technician said I had to come in in person.
But when I went in a few hours later, the pharmacy clerk didn't know how to handle a Kaiser member card, and when she called over the pharmacist about my situation -- hoo boy! The same pharmacist was eager to catch me in non-material mistakes (such as 7:30 am California time being 9:30 local time), and she seemed very unhappy that she was being asked to speak with a demanding customer right at her lunch hour. She informed me that they NEVER got prescriptions filled in 15-20 minutes, so nobody had told me that. And she pointed out that every minute more we had to talk was another minute she wasn't making the phone call to my pharmacy and I was making the people behind me wait.
Great service
I wish there was a rating of zero. That's what they deserve!
Thing is, if you want to keep a customer, you don't let her SEE the contempt you feel for her, and you don't give yourself the luxury of being caught being condescending and patronizing, challenging the customer's truthfulness, or blowing her off -- but, clearly, mine was one of those labor-intensive situations that Walmart doesn't want to handle, and I rubbed them the wrong way from stem to stern, so if they ran me off to another pharmacy, good riddance to me. The pharmacist was actually smirking as she put me in my place. I use the word "rude" lightly, but she was rude and appeared to be enjoying herself, since she had the power to give me the prescription or not, and I was nothing but an unreasonable out-of-towner who didn't know my place.
Out-of-towners and those with special requirements (such as a prescription transfer): DO NOT USE THIS PHARMACY. Go to Walgreens instead. The Walmart pharmacy is dreadfully understaffed, leading the employees there to be brusque, condescending, and even outright rude.
I'm sure her story is different, that I was an demanding customer who got her facts wrong (see above), expected special treatment, probably scamming for a painkiller (even though it was non-narcotic, as it turned out), and wouldn't take "no" for an answer. So, be forewarned. If it's an easy prescription, you may not have any trouble. But I eventually just said, "Cancel that, please. I'll go to Walgreens." What a difference; the clerk at Walgreens also said it would take two hours, but she was so pleasant and reasonable, I sighed and accepted it.
